I bought the 1.8 liter version (the smallest one) and used it for my first Cactus to Clouds hike the past Saturday. This is also my first reservoir (never used or had one before). I spent some time thinking and researching before getting this one.
Why the 1.8? I don't want to rely on reservoir only. I like to have the option of water bottles combined with a reservoir (in case any one failed). 1.8 liter has a wider width and shorter length, perfect for a small hydration compatible pack. The 2 and 3 liter can be too long for small packs. Some said that if you fold the zip top, the crease will start to leak. 1.8 liter you will not have to fold the top to fit the pack.
Before my hike I just fill it with drinking water. Only the first two sips had a taste, after that it was just plain water. The cheesy clip was a joke to look at but was actually quite handy to attach the bite valve to my shirt, otherwise it'd dangle and be very annoying.
To refill was a piece of cake. No need to get reservoir out or take items out of the backpack, simply unzip and pour the water into the opening.
The opening is not as big as CamelBak's (I bought a 100oz CamelBak winter reservoir, too). For my small female hand it was a tight squeeze to get into the bag (for cleaning purpose). However, since I don't plan to put anything other than water in the reservoir, it is not a big deal.
Some complained about the water flow but I find it a plus. It prevents me from drinking too much but must drink more frequently in small quantity. Frequent small sips hydrate the body much better than big gushed of water IMO.
I hope that this reservoir will last. After all, it's over $30 for a plastic bag. I'd be very pissed if it starts leaking after a few uses....(fingers crossed).
For now, I am a very happy Big Zip user.

It's a Macbeth iPad sleeve (reversible). The width is perfect. the length is shorter than the bag but that's not a negative. It allows the zip exposed so that refilling of water or ice is easy. With this neoprene sleeve, the sweating from ice cubes inside the bag will not make the inside of my backpack wet. Try it out if you find Macbeth sleeve in your local TJMaxx.

This is the hydration pack for a backpack. It is cheaper than the scout store or outdoor store to buy it here. After use, clean it out well and let it air dry. It works, it can save lives out on the trails if one gets lost. BUt it is a hassle to get your kids use to.

This hydration bladder is easy to use and seems very durable. I have used it several times and have no leaking of water or air back into the bladder. The big zip top is an excellent concept but is not nearly as big as I thought it would be. It is still easy to fill with water from my refrigerator filter system or with ice cubes.
